Alton Library host a course where you will learn how to upcycle a garment of your choice into a re-useable tote bag

Learning Goals:

  • Demonstrate basic seams
  • Add embellishments to your bag (such as a pocket)
  • Create a useable Tote Bag

About the course:
A fun and friendly workshop where you will upcycle a garment into a useable Tote Bag.  This workshop is open to adults aged 18+.  It is also open to those aged 11+ if they are attending with a paying adult.

Who is this course for:
Beginners/those with some sewing experience.

How will I learn:
By demonstration and having a go!

How will I be assessed:
Self-assessment on completion of project.

What shall I bring:

  • Sewing machine in working order, with foot controller, presser feet and a      small screwdriver.
  • An old garment.
  • 1” wide x 110cm.cotton tape for the handles.
  • Bobbins and matching colour thread, spare machine needles.
  • Pins, Small fabric scissors, tape measure, pens/pencils.
