Longhope Opera - L'elisir d'amore

A delightful annual event held on the Longhope Estate in Newton Valence, Hampshire

Having wowed thousands of guests since 2018, Scherzo Ensemble return with their fourth production. These operas at Longhope have become the centre-piece of their annual professional development programme for young artists.  This summer, we warmly invite you to a performance of L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of July, 2022.

On arrival guests are invited to take walks around the grounds and listen to the various live chamber performances that will be on offer. An hour before the performance we will provide a complimentary drinks reception where guests can mingle and soak up the festivities before taking their seats to enjoy the main event.

After the first act we will take a long dining interval of 75 minutes. Bring your own hamper and enjoy one of our dining experiences.

Al fresco: Find a spot on our grassy lawns and enjoy your hamper al fresco.

Communal Dining: If you would prefer to sit at a table, all are welcome to sit at our communal trestle tables with optional marquee cover - perfect for keeping you cool on a hot day and dry on a wet day.

Round Tables: Our decorated round tables are situated in a prime location with the best views of the South Downs and accommodate parties of 8 to 10 people. These are reserved for group bookings.

After dinner, the opera continues as the sun sets, after which you are welcome to stay for drinks until the grounds close at 9.30pm.
