Alton Town Council will be hosting a local summer open-air market on Saturday 8th August 2020, from 10am-2pm in the Public Gardens.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic guidelines we have unfortunately had to cancel all the Town Council events planned for the summer. Having received several enquiries from local charities and traders, who we are aware rely heavily on such events for promotion and income, we have decided to host a small open-air summer market in the Public Gardens.
The Alton Repair Café will be in the marquee at the market offering small repairs and advice. Many broken items are relatively easy to repair, however many people have little repair knowledge. The Repair Café not only enables people to save money, but also helps the planet by reducing our consumption of new items, lowering carbon emissions. For further information about the Repair Café and what services they offer, or to volunteer as a repairer please contact Jenny at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To ensure Covid-19 safety guidelines and social distancing are adhered to, we are only offering 15 stall pitches to local charities and traders within a 10-mile radius of Alton. There will be no pitch fee for charity and non-profit organisations, and only a £10 fee applicable for commercial stall pitches. If you would like to apply for a stall at this local summer open-air market please complete and return the online booking form available from www.alton.gov.uk, or if you require additional information please email email@example.com or telephone 01420 83986.
Cllr Graham Titterington, Town Mayor of Alton said: “We hope that this small open-air market will give some of our local charities and traders the opportunity to showcase themselves within our community and that the residents of Alton will enjoy visiting the stalls in the beautiful setting of our Public Gardens.”
