What is Bikeability?
Bikeability is the government’s national cycle training programme. It helps you learn practical skills and understanding of how to cycle on today’s roads. Bikeability gives everyone the confidence to cycle and enjoy this skill for life.
How much does Bikeability cost?
Nothing, the sessions have been jointly funded by Alton Town Council and with Hampshire County Council through a Councillor Grant kindly provided by County Councillor Andrew Joy.
Who will be running the sessions?
An experienced instructor called Vincent Licence and owner of 123 CycleRight
How old does my child need to be?
Your child can take part in the Bikeability Level 1 sessions if they can ride a bike unaided. Most children take part in Level 1 when they are between 7 and 10 years old. However, we know that every child is different and learn at different ages.
What if the weather is poor on the day?
Poor weather is a part of life and so is learning to cycle in it! Your child should wear layers and waterproofs to protect them during the course.
Your Bikeability instructor will decide if training will go ahead in poor weather. They might finish the session early.
How long is the session?
The session are between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Please make sure they have a drink with them.
Where will the session be held?
The session will run in the coned off area of the car parks at Anstey Park and Jubilee Playing Fields.
