The scope of the collection is the life and works of Jane Austen. The collection is based at Alton Library, close to Chawton, where Jane's Cottage and Museum is located.
A substantial amount of material reflects the strong links between the Austen family and Hampshire, not just in the Alton area, but also at Steventon near Basingstoke, and at Winchester where Jane Austen died.
A substantial amount of the material may be borrowed and the collection includes not only books, but pamphlets, DVDs and audio books.
