Time to dig out your walking shoes and your bike with over 50 walks and 3 days of cycling events in this month long festival

Alton Town Council are delighted that this year’s festival is able to go ahead and that they are able to offer a range of walks and cycle rides that will suit not only the more experienced enthusiast but also provide a welcome introduction to either walking or cycling, or both!

This year there are over 50 walks included in the programme and for the first time, we are able to also feature 3 days of cycling, offering participants guided rides to explore the area from easy 5 mile rides up to 50 mile rides for the more experienced cyclist.

The month long festival has something for everyone, short, long, leisurely to challenging walks and rides. There are shorter walks where you stop and listen to an expert about the local trees, history or wildlife, leisurely evening walks for those who can’t make the day time walks and for those looking for more of a walking challenge you can attend one of 3 longer walks.

Alton Town Council would like wish to thank this year’s main sponsor, the Newbury Buiding Society and all of the volunteers who have put together a programme to promote, share and develop walking and cycling in and around Alton.

You will need to physically distance from anyone not in your household.
A helmet MUST be worn and bike in a road worth condition on all cycling activities.
Please bring your own alcohol-based hand sanitiser, face covering and basic first aid kit. (We recommend that the walk leader also brings a first aid
kit, but for minor incidents it may be better to use your own.) If you touch
gates and stiles wash your hands as soon as you can. We recommend
carrying alcohol-based hand sanitiser and gloves.
Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions.
Please bring your own food and plenty of water. Many walks are in the countryside/woodland so rest stops for toilets may not be possible.
Please arrange your own transport. All travel costs (buses, trains and parking are at the expense of the walker.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start if your walk.

All walks and cycle rides must be booked in advance. For full details and to book please visit www.alton.gov.uk.

Covid-19 Information and Guidance

Alton Town Council would remind all participants that they must undertake a self-assessment for Covid 19 symptoms and no-one should be participating in a walk or cycle ride if they, or someone they live with, or have recently been in close contact with have displayed any symptoms.
