The concert opens with Benjamin Britten’s Matinées Musicales. Written during the War, it is a suite of five light-hearted, tuneful and charming pieces, based on melodies by Rossini.
Alton Concert Orchestra are very pleased that Sara Burnie, following her triumph at last year’ s “Last Night of the Proms” in Alton Public Gardens, will be joining them for Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate, a beautiful and virtuoso motet with a religious text that is now more often sung in the concert hall than the Church.
The finale is Schumann’s 2nd Symphony.
Tickets will be available on door, and online.
Please note: The location of the concert has changed to Martin Read Hall, Alton College. For parking use Carpark D, off Edward Road, GU34 2HU
