Jane Austen, the Chawton years 1809-1817

Talk with readings from Jane Austen’s letters and family memoirs about how Jane Austen, her mother, sister Cassandra and friend Martha Lloyd passed their days while living at Chawton.

To include Austen family events which contributed to her declining health and untimely death in 1817. Janet Johnstone is Stewards Manager at Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton.

The talk will be preceded by teas at the Allen Gallery from 6.30pm, with the option to sit in the garden if the weather permits.
