All organised walks have been cancelled. Routes may be made available for people wishing to follow them independently, depending on relevant Government guidelines.
Building upon the success of Alton’s well-established month long Walking Festival, Alton Town Council is delighted to introduce cycling for the first time to the event.
The programme of walks and cycle rides on offer aims to entice even more people to get out there, with a range of short guided walks and town tours appealing to those looking to improving their health and well-being. These will run alongside the popular long distance routes such as the ‘Six Hills of Alton Walk’ that showcase some of the best views of Alton and the surrounding local countryside.
The event is co-ordinated by Alton Town Council with all the walks and cycle rides led by volunteers, with a number of leaders coming from local groups such as the Alton Ramblers, Alton Cycling Club, Alton Long Distance Walkers Association, Alton Town Guides and Walk Alton.
Alton is a ‘Walkers are Welcome’ destination and whether you are looking to delve into the town’s history, enjoy the local shops, cafes and restaurants or are a keen walker looking to enjoy a day out in the East Hampshire countryside and South Downs National Park, the programme offers something for all ages and abilities.
