Jane Austen's House Museum

Tuesday Talk: From Pen to Print - The Story of Northanger Abbey

In this talk, discover the story of Northanger Abbey from pen to print; from its early beginnings at Jane's family home at Steventon to eventual publication in 1818

This event will take place in the Learning Centre which has a maximum capacity. Admittance will be on a first come first served basis.

Northanger Abbey was one of Jane Austen's earliest novels and the first that she sold for publication. However, it was only published after her death, along with Austen's last completed novel, Persuasion.

A first edition of the novel, along with a contemporary newspaper advertising its publication, will be on display in the Museum as part of our Family, Friendship and Northanger Abbey displays.
