All of Jane Austen's novels focus on family and friendship, but it is widely suggested that the family of Catherine Morland, the heroine of Northanger Abbey, most strongly reflects life in the Austen family. Like Jane, Catherine's father was a clergyman and they both grew up in a vicarage with a large and lively family.
Come and discover how attending society balls, writing letters and reading novels played a role in the lives of these real and imagined characters.
